Factions Faq released
Alliances and alliance missions sound awesome to me. See when I first bought GW, I thought that guilds would be able to control parts of the map... but then i was disappointed to find out that you couldn't. Now these alliance missions are going to do just that. It should add some pve for the most "leet", kinda like raids in wow.

I found this:
"Will I be able to take my existing characters in the new areas of the world? Do they keep their items, their levels, etc?
You will be able to travel to the new land, Cantha, with your Ascended Guild Wars characters. Inventory items, skills, and other possessions and attainments from Guild Wars remain yours with the release of Guild Wars Factions."
So, what about those who didn't buy GW? Do they automatically count as ascended? Or will you have to beat a doppleganger in order to get out of the Cantha newbie area? (assuming there is one)
Regardless, while there will be an influx of newbies from the new purchases, at least we might see a reduction in noobs from the original GW...
Noobs often can't ascend cause they don't know what they're doing ^_^, all that getting run everywhere.

Most likely, it means that if you choose to take an original GW character into Factions, you'll get the pleasure of annihilating low level content with your level 20 character for half the game.

GW and Factions work as one or apart depending on what you have. From what I have read, you don't need GW to run factions. Factions is an expansion but it can stand alone.
Unless they changed it in a later press release.......????? Correct me if they did.

I really don't like the idea of an elite Alliance made up of the top 10 Guilds controlling access to parts of the game...

This might and might not be good to me. I just think this will make the game even more confusing and even less average person friendly. I would enjoy being able to start my own smaller guild with 10-15 members and still be able to do guild missions. I'm not sure how easy it will be for my guild to form an alliance with other guilds as all the people I know that play guild wars are in my guild. The game seems complicated enough to me... : (

What are the game types within Guild Wars Factions?
Here are the new game types:
Challenge Missions
Challenge Missions are cooperative missions with specific scoring objectives, such as holding out against progressive waves of enemies. Within the game, personal bests and high scores will be displayed.
Elite Missions
Elite Missions are the most powerful means by which alliances access new areas; they are designed to be the ultimate cooperative challenge.
Alliance Missions
In Alliance Missions, multiple teams compete to control resource points and achieve strategic victory. Victors earn faction points for their alliance, and the outcomes will determine control of towns and outposts.
Faction Battles
Factions Battles are large-scale, strategic PvP battles that allow factions to conquer new territory.

If I remember correct you can only join Faction with your Ascended GW character only in the part after you will need to Ascended on the Factions Game.
So you can’t play in the newbie land and low lvs with your lv20 Gw Character for that you need to make a new one, but you can play in Cantha after the Ascended in Factions.
This is what I read and if rember it was in one of the Gaile chats.
In regards to the FAQ, still what I need to know they haven answer it, HOW MANY SLOTS YOU GET IF YOU JOIN BOTH ACCOUNTS!!!
